Endcap Compatibility
When purchasing a new freewheel driver body, it is essential to verify driveside endcap compatiblility
Freehub driver body standard | Driveside Endcap Type |
Shimano HG | Type 1 |
Sram XD(R) | |
Shimano Micro Spline, and Campagnolo N3W. | Type 2 – marked with the “Micro Spline” engraving |
In other words, the same driveside endcap can be used with both Shimano HG and Sram XD(R) freehub driver bodies. The Shimano Micro Spline (the newest 12-speed standard) and the Campagnolo N3W requite a different type of endcap. Choose “Yes” or “No” based on the circumstances.
- Sram XD drivers are not included in the Onyx RP lineup. XD cassettes can be run with an XDR driver by installing a 1.85mm spacer under the cassette. The spacer is included in the delivery with all XDR drivers.
- Chromoly freewheel driver bodies are the strongest and most durable option out there, but come with an addittional weight of approx. 50-60g. These variants are recommended for especially heavy applications such as e-bike or single-speed use. Vesper hubs use aluminium drivers in all applications.
- Ensure compatibility by email, if needed.
