Hubs
- Vesper model with the patented sprag clutch design featuring instant engagement, and silent operation.
- MFU axle design isolates the sprag clutch mechanism from forces subjected to the hub shell, allows for easy servicing, and makes the swap from one freehub driver body choice to another an effortless task.
- Boost spacing: 110x15mm and 148x12mm hub dimensions.
- If you’re in the need of 20mm Boost or Torque Cap front axle, please get in touch by email at info(at)onyxhubseurope.com.
- ISO 6-bolt rotor mounts.
- 32H spoke hole counts by default. In some cases, certain rims are available with 28H spoke hole count only. In these cases the build is done with 28H hubs as well. See the rim section below for more information.
- Available with all common freehub driver body standards: Sram XD(R), Shimano HG, and Shimano Micro Spline (MS). Vesper hubs are available with aluminium freehub driver bodies only.
- XD(R) freehub driver bodies are compatible with XD cassettes used in MTB applications by fitting a 1.85mm thick spacer under the cassette during installation. All XD(R) freehub driver bodies are supplied with the spacer in question. Read more about the XD(R), and HG freehub driver bodies here.
- Anodized black hub shells.
- Note! 28H builds are supplied with anodized matte black hubs!
- If you’re looking for other color options, get in touch by email into(at)onyxhubseurope.com

Rims
Rim options are listed below with accompanying dimensions, intended use case, and material with additional notes:
- Rims are 29″ in size by default. In the case of mixed wheel size (29″ in the front, 27.5″ in the rear) the term MX is used. For example, the option DT Swiss EX511 – MX means that the wheelset consists of 29″ front wheel, and 27.5″ rear wheel.
- All rims, and therefore wheel builds are 32H if not otherwise noted,
- Black rim color is the default option. In the case of silver-colored rims, with some DT Swiss models for example, the term silver is used. For example, the option DT Swiss FR 571 Silver means that the wheelset consists of silver/clear-colored 29″ front, and rear wheel.

Spokes, Nipples & Build
Wheels are built with black-colored Sapim Race spokes with 2.0/1.8/2.0mm profile. The Race spokes are the default spoke model for several reasons.
- Excellent value.
- High strength-to-weight ratio.
- Better fatigue-resistance properties than straight gauge 2.0mm spokes.
- Easy to source in case spares are needed.
Race spokes are paired with black-colored Sapim Polyax brass nipples (standard or Double Square version). Brass nipples are used exclusively in all of our builds because of their longevity, low to zero maintenance needs, corrosion resistance and strength. Secure-Lock nipples or traditional ones with a mild adhesive compound to prevent unwanted loosening, improve wheel reliability, and lessen service needs.
Wheels are built with 3-cross lacing pattern, trued by hand, carefully stress-relieved, and equipped with tubeless tape.
Upgrade Options
Upgrade your Classic hub set with brightly coloured widgets/endcaps to create a wheelset with unique looks!
In case you want to save a few grams, gain a touch of lateral compliance, you can upgrade the build with Sapim D-Light spokes that employ a slimmer 2.0/1.6/2.0mm profile.
Features, and benefits of D-Light spokes are as follows:
- Excellent strength-to-weight ratio.
- Highly durable, strong enough for enduro, and bike park use.
- Easy to source in case spares are needed.
Assuming that you want to stay on top of the maintenance schedule, and have spare parts at hand whenever needed, purchasing a Wheel Care Package with the wheelset is the way to go. Click the link below for more information.
