For Pro’s Too
The Expert hub is geared towards simplifying the Onyx RP lineup. Despite the Expert name, it’s designed to meet the demands of the fastest Pro-class riders. The design, and components used are based on the highly popular Ultra BMX model which has been a stable in Onyx RP’s lineup, and highly regarded hub option for riders worldwide.
In addition to filling the spot of the Ultra BMX model, the new Expert hub replaces the previous Pro BMX model as well, thanks to its light design, and superb strength-to-weight-ratio.
Specifications
The Expert hub rolls with the following specifications:
- Freedom to choose between 100x10mm bolt-on, and 110x15mm thru-bolt axle standards. Swapping from one axle standard to another with the needed conversion parts can be done just as with the previous Ultra BMX model.
- Traditional, and disc brake specific models: Expert, and Expert ISO.
- Available with 28H, and 36H spoke hole counts.
- Based on the Ultra BMX hub design with its 437-Z sprag clutch.
- A new floating axle design as seen on Ultra BMX 110x15mm thru-bolt, Classic MFU, and Vesper hub models.
- Greatly improved serviceability.
- Available in a variety of colors – the widest assortment of options found anywhere in the industry – as with all Onyx Racing Products hubs.

Hybrid Freehub™
The innovative Hybrid Freehub™ design has been developed in parallel with the Expert hub line. It’s an upgrade option which makes the hub lighter, simplifies the assembly, and gives an additional level of freedom to choose the color of your liking.
The Hybrid Freehub™ is a 1-piece aluminium freehub driver body, and cog assembly which mounts directly to the hub driver with a keyed interface. It’s offered as an aftermarket upgrade option, and the purchase can be done with the hub set or anytime after that. Installation is an easy process consisting of only few steps with the need of a limited amount of tools.
